The You Chang Carbon Co. in Korea manufactures a range of novel sheet materials, including carbon fabrics, glass cloths and tapes, and epoxy panels. Their Aramid fabrics are bulletproof, flame resistant, and exhibit outstanding shock absorption properties. The carbon fabrics also have some remarkable properties; they have high strength (stronger than steel), have high elasticity and high thermo-stable characteristics. According to data they’ve sent us, their high strength carbon fabric wrap system has a fiber strength of 4900 MPa. In comparision, ASTM A36 Structural Steel has a yield strength of 250 MPa and an ultimate strength of 400 MPa.
