NASA’s 2008 Create the Future design competition has already received 200 entries, a record pace. The new ideas vary, from a thermoelastic heat pump to an anti-fog device for bathroom mirrors, and there are some ideas that have already been developed by others, such as the Water Burner proposal (see the Burning Water project it resembles). The Create the Future contest awards a Grand Prize of $20,000 and six First Prizes of Hewlett-Packard workstations. The deadline for the contest is October 17, 2008, so there’s lots of time to submit nano-enabled products and environments.
