GM "Breakthrough" In Demonstrating Conventional Smart Materials

General Motors has been looking at applications for smart materials, such as shape memory alloys, in their automobiles. The SMAs might be used as actuators for simple devices. GM is also using nanotechnology on the running boards of its full-size SUVs to make them lighter and more scratch resistant.
