Categories: polymers designers

A high-tech polycarbonate from Bayer MaterialScience, Makrolon, withstands high and low temperatures, can be transparent or opaque, and is resistant to impact and weathering. It’s used in a number of products, including the eXasis transparent concept car by Rinspeed. The car’s outer Makrolon shell was molded by the Swiss firm Mecaplex and is coated with a tinge of yellow by KRD Coatings, which also specializes in anti-condensation, light conduction, and self-cleaning coatings.
