Researchers at Xerox have come up with a way to add fluorescent words and images to documents, making it possible to create telltale marks visible only under ultraviolet light. The technology uses different combinations of the four color inks that are commonly used for printing (CMYK: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) but distributes the coverage of the ink droplets differently. The end result presents the same visual color one would expect in a print job, but would leaves minute areas of white paper exposed, which will fluoresce under ultraviolet light.
